Although he wasn't actually born (November 5, 1960 in Troyes) into the textile business, his childhood was marked by an early passion for fashion. He began by obtaining a technical diploma in the textile industry in his home town and then went to Paris to study at the Esmod school fashion for two years. Upon graduating, Hermés hired him on as head of the women's ready-to-wear division. He stayed there for 9 years and then created his own company in 1989 in order to manage his freelance design work which included the Lanvin women's collection, Erreuno, Jun Ashid Inès de la Fressange as well as footwear collections for Harel. He presented his first name collection in 1995.
