Mauricio Limón

Mauricio Limón

Mauricio Limón was born in 1979. He lives and works in Mexico City. His work has been shown in Mexico as well as internationally in spaces such as Museo de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil and Museo Casa Luis Barragán in Mexico City and Video Dumbo in New York. An experimental and easy style with detailed lines and subtle colors, which generate an enigmatic and disturbing force, can be perceived in Mauricio Limón's drawings. In Transylvania, the transformations and revolutions of human bodies with stems and flowers, present a sexual paroxysm in the exploration of beauty, a trip to the organic and wild life of senses, represented in triunphant harlequins with sunflower heads. It's a celebration of recognition and initiation. In video, he also involves popular elements, giving them a poetic turn and practicing a tribal acknowledgement of some aspects of marginality.
