lettera27 is a non profit foundation, born in July 2006.
Its mission is to support the right to literacy, to education, and the access to knowledge and information, all over the world and especially in the most deprived areas.
Detour and myDetour support lettera27 through the work of artists and authors that donate their participation and their notebooks to the Foundation.
WikiAfrica is a collaborative and international project designed to africanize Wikipedia through networks, research, projects, publications, and events. WikiAfrica contributes to Wikimedia projects online and offline with texts, quotes, images, audio and video.
WikiAfrica Art is a program of WikiAfrica that aims at activating new users and networks, to bring African artists and African art on Wikipedia.
By linking existing networks and supporting new analogue and digital nets, WAA facilitate the production and editing on Wikipedia of articles on artists, curators, critics, collectors, artworks, galleries, art spaces and museums. WAA involves in particular students, exerts and cultural institutions and it encourages the production and upload of site-specific artworks, quotations, books, essays, audio files, videos and images on all the different Wikimedia projects, in every language.
How to participate
An artwork for Wikipedia: WikiAfrica Art invites artists to produce "a site-specific artwork for Wikipedia". To participate, please upload directly your work on Wikimedia Commons writing your name and "WikiAfrica Art - A site-specific artwork for Wikipedia" in the description space; please select the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike. The image you donate will enrich the open documentation of multilingual Wikipedia. A selection of the artworks will be printed on postcards and distributed inside Moleskine notebooks and they'll be available as e-cards on lettera27 website. You can use a Moleskine notebook to design your work and you can donate it to lettera27 to support WikiAfrica.
