Dussmann - das KulturKaufhaus

Remember them?
During the last myDetour event, April 2008, the jury selected the ten best among all the notebooks left at the three myDetour collecting points in Paris. Now it is time for the ten to be displayed in the upcoming myDetour event in Berlin, from october 30th to november 15th.

Let's get to know the first location for two of them: Marie Compagnon and Sarai Delfendahl's notebooks were both dropped in La Hune bookshop in April and are going to be shown at Dussmann - das KulturKaufhaus in Friedrichstrasse 90 [see the map].

A short interview by Mr Torsten Prohl, Branch Manager at Dussmann

[At the beginning of the interview Torsten Prohl talks about Dussmann, describing the variety of the products the bookshop can offer (books, CD, stationery), he then dwells a lot on Moleskine, saying that they've been selling this brand for eight years: starting with just a few articles and then expanding the range.
The regular customers like Moleskine very much and come to the bookshop sure to find here what they are looking for (apart from diaries, city notebooks are a big hit).
He speaks then again of Dussmann, and gets to myDetour: he says he believes it will help people see all that can be done with Moleskine notebooks; he also speaks about the Museum der Dinge and mentions the Detour event.]

Hugendubel

A new point where every notebook lover could drop his own decorated notebook in Berlin is Hugendubel bookshop, in Tauentzienstraβe 13 [see the map]

Inside the bookshop, besides the collecting box, three notebooks coming from previous myDetour event in Paris, will be displayed: notebooks by Cacatie, Jill Gallieni and Lorraine Remise (click on the names to see images of their artwork).

A short interview by Mrs Caudia Ordelmans, Branch Manager at Hugendubel.

[The bookshop is in a central position, on the Kurfϋrstendamm, and it's been open for eleven years now; Claudia Ordelmans says that Moleskine and Hugendubel suit each other very well, which is proved also by the myDetour event. Hugendubel wants to reach people of every kind: conservative and creative, young and old, Hugendubel has no restricted target group, like Moleskine hasn't. So myDetour suits Hugendubel very well and the event will help people understand what they can do with Moleskine; on top of that, by illustrating a notebook someone will be able to fly to Instanbul next year.]

Hauptsache

If you happen to pass by Rosenthaler Straβe from october 30th to november 15th, you could drop your notebook in the collecting box inside HauptSache design store, at number 32.[ see the map]

In the store, beside the collecting box, you'll see two notebooks coming from previous myDetour event in Paris: Emmanuel Lesgourgues and Emi (click on the names to see images of their artwork).

A short interview by Mr Axel Muller, Owner HauptSache.

[Open for four years and a half, it sells different brands (as Montblanc, Filofax and other german brands) among which, of course, Moleskine; Alex Mϋller explains that people cherish the Moleskine notebook, as it is connected to artists like Picasso and Chatwin; he also absolutely believes that myDetour will attract a great deal of interest and that a lot of notebooks will be received; then he speaks about Detour, quoting the artists and architects who donate their notebooks to the foundation lettera27 for the exhibition; he ends the interview saying that "Moleskine is a very nice thing!" ]

Next to the box, notebooks by Michèle Antoine, Maarten Averink and Florie Mahe coming from the previous myDetour event in Paris will be displayed (click on the names to see images of their artwork).

A short interview by Mr Michael Wiekhusen, KaDeWe

[Michael Wiekhusen presents KaDeWe as the biggest department store in Europe; he then speaks about the stationery department, where they have been selling Moleskine since 2003 and very proud of doing so; they are also pleased to take part in the myDetour event; he says that this initiative will be very positive both for clients and for the people who will participate; he believes myDetour will be a great success both for Moleskine and KaDeWe.]

Japanese - Pocket

First selected notebook
The girls of the Glambitz-Heiderpriem graphic design and illustration studio succeeded in turning the Japanese notebook into an artistic book through a radiant tale, written in mixed technique, of a typical afternoon on the way to Karl Marks Platz. A walk projected into the fantasy of anyone who for the first time saw Berlin united, with all the freedom that you can almost touch around the streets. The girls run in the rain and at dawn they move on to the town that was once separated, and that now is just the repository of two different pasts. They graze the Check Point Charlie area and then walk past the legendary tower which, only twenty years ago, was no entry zone. In the Turkish quarter Oranienstrasse they start dancing in the streets involving every passer-by they see while hoping not to get lost. The illustrated words flow on one single page through diagonal thoughts, matter illustrations and collages. Berlin, they tell us, will be always like this, and leave an optimistic message which we greatly need.  [Raffaella Guidobono, curator]

Built as a comic book through the pages of a reporter notebook, she takes notes on her daily life and invents a parallel story of an ideal life, to then reveal all its simplicity through an effective and self-ironic illustration. [Raffaella Guidobono, curator]
